Waaaaaaa!!

Check out this nursery! I decided to mix it up by making some of the babies swaddled and some under blankets. You’ll notice that some are sleeping soundly and others are ready to eat!

Swaddled Baby

I have an important baby shower coming up, and decided to get a head start (literally) on my marshmallow display…This little swaddled baby came out so sweet! I used my appetizer pick to create the indentations for the eyes mouth and ears on the tiny heads.  I readied all the infant heads with their features and put in a sealed bag. I will construct the fondant babies and attached the rest of the heads tomorrow to put on top of white chocolate covered marshmallows.

Sugar Sheets

I REALLY love to try new baking products! My latest ‘new’ item is Sugar Sheets! Just the sound of them sounds exciting. Basically, it’s a sheet of edible paper that you can cut out designs and put onto your cookies, cakes and of course marshmallows. I first tried the sugar paper onto some sugar cookies with a little butter cream frosting. What elegant looking cookies! I tasted some of the paper and it is really unique melting in your mouth.

Painted Marshmallow

After painting the eggs yesterday I had to try out this egg painting technique on my marshmallows using my edible food coloring pens. It is really pretty and the picture doesn’t do it justice. Hard to believe you can eat this!

Painted Egg

I have been eating a ton of scrambled eggs lately. I decided a few weeks ago to start saving the eggs so I could paint them this spring. I carefully made a tiny hole in both the top and bottom of the eggs and “blew” the egg white and yolk into a bowl. Then I rinsed the inside of the egg shell out with hot water and let it dry. I’ve had about ten of them lined up on my kitchen windowsill waiting to be painted. Today I painted the first one. I cheated a little and used sharpie markers instead of paint. I think it came out really nice and I put a ribbon on it too, although I’m not sure where I’ll hang this. I’ll probably paint the rest this spring to give out as gifts.

A blizzard of sugar snowflakes

There is snow in the forecast…and so I used the rest of my snowflake sugar decals to make a tasty little display. These sugar decals are so wonderful in a pinch, they are beautiful, easy to use and zero clean up. I just dipped the marshmallows in chocolate and placed the decals on top!

Marshins Vs. Martians

These are real MARSHins. I can’t believe I waited so long to use my new package of Americolor food writing pens…Santa was nice enough to bring (and I was nice enough to receive!) I’m not the greatest artist on paper so I assume my decorating will take some time with these pens. But they are perfect for making fine detail like mouths on these little alien men. Previously I would use my appetizer picks dipped in coloring and it would take FOREVER to get small lines made and it was never without error. These very cool pens make line making a snap! Next time I’ll add some more embellishments to my creatures…these guys don’t look too spacey!

Front Page!

Sometimes you open up a gift and you are just so stunned you are speechless. That’s what happened to me when I opened the package and saw this magazine cover.  Hello, can you say SO very excited?! Ok, ok, so my sister dreamed it up at PhotoShop…but it definitely took me a few minutes to figure it out. And honestly, isn’t this where my sweet marshmallow creations should be anyway? I have really great marshmallow ideas that are tasty, unique and some are sooo simple!

Pinkies Up!

The marshmallow mugs have been a big hit this season…sooooooooo I made some more again. I like covering the marshmallow in white chocolate first and then inserting the candycane. Pinkies up, this is a dainty little snack!

Marshmallow Penguins (caution- very cute marshmallow post)

I was browsing the bakery department at my local supermarket and spotted these adorable little penguins on top of cookies! I just couldn’t resist coming home and attempting them myself. I love new marshmallow ideas and especially love it when I see other people and places coming up with new ideas for marshmallows too. To make the penguins I used bare marshmallows and piped black tinted frosting for the head and flippers then orange frosting for the nose and feet. I first piped white eyes but then decided to use candy eyeballs instead because I was afraid the black frosting would run into the white eyes. I had some little marshmallow snowmen leftover from the other day (that I had put in the freezer…so smart of me!)  and I decided to let it make friends with the penguins. Way too cute!  I think if someone has a winter themed cake going on, these would give it the perfect touch.

Windy Days

We have been having some serious wind the last few days and outdoor items are flying everywhere. When the wind is so strong that your wreath blows it right off your door, have a back up marshmallow wreath ready to hang. Like this one here:
I piped white chocolate onto parchment paper and lined with marshmallows, added M&M’s for the ‘berries’ and used nice red ribbon for the bow and hanging.
