Whole Foods Cupcakes - Wholly Delicious

I was setting up some cupcakes in my kitchen and after I put the first cupcake on the platter I just thought this looked like the most perfect picture. One single (very delicious) cupcake. I bought a whole bunch at Whole Foods Market, which has my favorite cupcakes. Rich moist cake with piled high frosting. I went out of my way to pick these up because I wanted to snack on a few myself, and since the baker at Whole Foods uses mostly ‘good’ ingredients (ie. less chemicals and preservatives), I don’t feel so guilty if I eat more than one at a sitting. Which I did..and they were DELICIOUS!

Hello Candle!

Look who made a super cute candle holder out of fondants! It was requested of me to make an edible Hello Kitty cake topper that could also hold a candle.  You’ll see in past posts that I’ve made Hello Kitty on marshmallows before, so I followed the same idea only skipped the marshmallow part molded a body and made space on the top for a candle.
I also made a mini Hello Kitty head sized for a cupcake. Too cute! Now if only I had my oven working, I could offer to make the cake as well!

Glitter Sprinkles

I’m always on the lookout for new embellishments and when I spotted these “Glitter Sprinkles” I scooped up a few jars. They are made by Festival and this particular jar is Jewel Blend…Don’t you love that? They are the fanciest sprinkles I’ve ever worked with. I dipped my marshmallows into candy coating and rather than just shaking on the sprinkles I carefully placed the sprinkles onto the marshmallow, so it would be neat and perfect and so I wouldn’t waste any. Each little sprinkle has a pearly finish, I’ll definitely be seeking out more products from Festival!

Double pleasures

This is a simple and elegant marshmallow creation. White chocolate dipped marshmallows with a whole Lindt truffle on top. I used real white chocolate to coat the marshmallows, not candy coating. Since I was putting real (real yummy) chocolate balls on top, I wanted to make sure I used the good white chocolate on the marshmallow.
Simple. Simply delicious.

Kiss Me I’m Irish…

...Or Kiss me I’m a scary alien vampire with a green beret trying to pose as a leprechaun.  I had a vision of what my painted marshmallow would look like and this…was..not..quite it. It could be worse, but could be better! But bottoms up, Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

Chicken Cashew on Romaine

My oven has been broken for a few weeks now. The stovetop works fine but I can’t bake anything in the oven part. I finally had the repair man come to look at it and he said it wasn’t something he could fix and I need to get a new one! This could be exciting, or a real headache. Luckily for me you don’t need an oven to make amazing marshmallows.
….And you don’t need the oven to make an aaaaamazing chicken cashew dish with mushrooms and spinach. I sautéed the chicken, then added fresh chopped spinach and mushrooms, let it cook for a few minutes then added a few diced red peppers and chopped cashews with salt and pepper. I could have stuffed peppers and baked (but I don’t have a working oven) so I improvised by putting the mixture into crisp romaine lettuce leaves and serving them as wraps. Putting the mixture into the lettuce was much fancier than making it a stuffed pepper.

Happy (early) St Pattys Day

These are cute little mini-marshmallows that I decorated up with my edibile inks in honor (early) of Saint Patrick’s Day!
